I have been fixing cars for an awful long time, and I have always had bad luck with this junk, so I never install it. Yeah it comes with a warranty, sometimes lifetime, but in the past 2 days I got a call from a friend who had one put in his Subaru Loyale wagon, and my girl got us stranded in the pickup parking lot of the airport in her Grand Cherokee. The Loyale is on its 2nd replacement under warranty in as many months, and my girls was replaced at another garage 6 months ago. I went under the GC in the lot to tap it and saw the dreaded World Wide reman sticker (tapped it and it started of course). Jalops keep this shit off your car if you care about it. All of this crap should be labeled not fit for human consumption! That is all

oh reman is fine if done right. Hell I have had to reman my own from time to time, but this particular sort of reman done in china with sub par parts and QC is what is in question here.

i got one from Bosch (I liked that they give you roadside for the length of the warranty). I've heard enough hirriw stories of parts store brands, and my starter is a bitch to get out so the less failures the better

Not just built in China, but Chinese made ball bearings...

Put one of these things on my old Subaru Loyale once and I was replacing it every month. Luckily it's only a ten minute job on that car. After the third time I just demanded my money back and put a junkyard alternator on, never had any trouble again.

I avoid remanufactured starters and alternators at all costs because who knows the quality and components they are putting in. I got a guy who just does alternators and starters. Rebuilt my Bosch alternator out of my Volvo 740 for $25. Cheaper than buying rebuilt and I still have a quality alternator.

I was disappointed last night when I saw this on my phone and nobody came up with the Tommy Boy connection. I'm a day late but feel obligated to correct this unfortunate oversight.
